Hasibah حاسبة — research

Saudi money calculators, sister site to alhijri.com · researched 23 September 2026 · private page, not indexed

Verdict: worth building, and the gap is quality, not demand.

People search for all five calculators every month of the year. The results they find are government portals, bank tools, HR-software lead pages and small tool sites. Most of those sites cite no law, are Arabic-only, and several get the 2024 social-insurance change wrong. Hasibah can win by being correct, sourced, fast, and bilingual, and by leaning on alhijri's exact date engine, which matters for service-length and Zakat-year maths.

Money from ads alone will be modest. Treat it as a traffic and trust asset first.

1. The recommended plan

  1. Same stack as alhijri, but one page per calculator rather than one page with tabs. Each calculator answers a different Google search. Competitors that rank all use separate pages. Everything else stays alhijri: hand-written HTML/CSS/JS, the same build script, JF Flat font, dark mode, offline PWA, ads only on the live hostname, staging on a .basem.ai subdomain.
  2. Build order:
    1. End-of-service gratuity: the biggest search, and the one where exact day-counting (alhijri's engine) is an edge.
    2. Salary after GOSI: most competitors are wrong about the new 2024 system; being right is the headline.
    3. VAT 15%, add or extract, plus the 5% property-sale tax (RETT) as a bonus. Quick to build.
    4. Zakat, finished and indexed well before Ramadan 1448 (starts ≈ 8 Feb 2027), when Zakat searches jump roughly 5–10×.
    5. Loan / personal finance, showing the real annual rate (APR) next to the bank's "flat" rate and checking SAMA's 33% salary limit.
  3. Trust on every page: the article or rule number with a link to the official source, a "checked against the law on …" date, and a link to the government's own calculator where one exists.
  4. Cross-links: alhijri links to hasibah from its paydays tab (salary → take-home pay) and footer; hasibah uses alhijri for any date picking and links back. Competitors get most of their traffic from date searches, so the pairing helps both.
  5. Shared template: before starting, pull alhijri's reusable parts (build script, service worker, FAQ builder, ad gating, theme toggle, fonts) into a shared kit so both sites get fixes together.

2. The rules, calculator by calculator

Salary after social insurance الراتب بعد التأمينات high confidence

Deductions are taken from basic + housing only, capped between SAR 1,500 and 45,000. What an employee pays depends on when they first joined:

WhoEmployee paysEmployer pays
Saudi, joined before 3 July 20249.75% (9 pension + 0.75 unemployment)11.75%
Saudi, first joined on/after 3 July 2024 — from 1 July 202610.75%12.75%
Non-Saudi0%2% (work injuries)

For new joiners the pension share rises 0.5 points every 1 July: 9% (2024) → 9.5% → 10% now → 10.5% → 11% (2028). It goes by calendar date, not by years worked. At least one big competitor (Daftra) gets this wrong. The site will need a small update every July.

About reusing osool's Zakat engine. The maths is small and easy to carry over: about 100 lines, plus 15 ready-made test cases. But osool was built for a personal tracker. It uses gold nisab only, requires every asset to have been held a full year on its own, and has no jewellery or silver options. A public calculator should follow ZATCA's guide instead. So "reuse" means taking osool's rules and tests as a starting point, not dropping the engine in as it is. Worth deciding whether osool itself should move to the silver/lower-nisab rule too.

Later additions worth considering

3. Competition

VATZATCA, Daftra, ClearTax, several one-page VAT sites20k–80k, steady

The search numbers are informed guesses: no free keyword tool returned real figures. Confirm them with Google Keyword Planner before investing heavily, and with Search Console once live.

4. The domain

hasibah.com was registered in 2019 and only ever showed a GoDaddy parking page. There was no earlier website and so no bad history or penalties. It expires 12 June 2027; consider auto-renew. It now points at this server and shows a "coming soon" page hidden from Google.

7. Decisions for you

  1. English version at launch, or Arabic first? English is a real gap in the market (expats search gratuity and VAT a lot); it roughly doubles the writing work.
  2. Zakat default nisab: silver (ZATCA guide) or gold (osool today)?
  3. Ads from day one, like alhijri, or wait for traffic?
  4. Named reviewer: is there a lawyer or HR person whose name can appear as "reviewed by" on the gratuity and salary pages?

8. Still to confirm

Research combined three independent passes: official rules, competition/search, and a review of reusable code in alhijri and osool. Estimates are labelled as such; everything else links to its source.
